The Generali Stadium, the new home shared by Inter and Milan, will be inaugurated in 2025 with a capacity of 71,500 spectators. The project, entrusted to Foster + Partners and MANICA, involves a total area of 281,000 square metres, of which 182,000 for the stadium structure and 12,500 for the podium. The maximum height will reach 70 meters from pitch level to the roof, or 66 meters if measured from park level.
The composition of the stands has been designed to offer comfort and safety. Of the 71,500 seats, 59,692 are standard, 8,088 are intended for hospitality and 3,698 fall into the premium category. Furthermore, 394 seats are reserved for wheelchair users. The two curves, located at the ends of the pitch, will be real "fan walls" with 11,700 seats each, with exclusive entrances and optimal safety areas. The design ensures C90+ standards to ensure optimal visibility from every sector.
The roof, of a "spoke-wheel" shape, will have dimensions of 244 by 270 metres, extending to 300 by 375 meters if the podium is included. It will be equipped with 27,500 square meters of photovoltaic panels, helping to make the system completely electric and aiming for LEED Gold certification with carbon neutral operation. Lighting will be provided by high-efficiency LEDs, while rainwater will be recovered and gray water recycled, favoring the use of local materials for construction.
The Generali Stadium represents a step forward for the two Milanese clubs, offering modern and sustainable infrastructure. With its capacity and technical features, the new stadium promises to be one of the main destinations for football fans in Italy, ready to host both Serie A matches and international events.
