Marco Landucci, assistant coach of Napoli, commented on the result of the derby against Monza, bringing the team back to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory. After the draw against Roma, the Neapolitan club recovered the three points needed for the ninth matchday of SerieA, proving that they are still able to compete with the championship holders.
In his speech for Sky Sport, Landucci began by recalling how, in the past, fans accused Napoli of "winning by a narrow margin", while now the criticism focuses on the goals conceded. "Monza was a very strong team; it's a shame about the goal we conceded, but then we grew in the second half and finished well," he said, underlining the importance of a winning match and the need to continue improving. He also referenced the recovery of key players such as McTominay and Anguissa, highlighting the work done to bring them back to fitness.
Landucci then spoke about the situation of Lobotka, who suffered an ankle injury. "I don't know very well, but he's definitely not well. It's under his ankle; he'll have tests tomorrow, we've certainly lost him for a while. Let's hope nothing serious," he added, showing concern for the player but also confidence in his speedy recovery.
Regarding tactics, the manager highlighted the importance of the midfield, citing the arrival of Scott and Frank as key factors in the team's improvement. He also commented on Milinkovic-Savic's performance, calling him a "serious and intelligent boy" and underlining the need to make better use of space on the pitch, especially in the first half, to avoid losing "too simple" balls.
Finally, Landucci reiterated Napoli's desire to continue winning matches, stating that "to silence you have to win matches, things can be seen in many ways, then each of us decides what to listen to". With this mentality, the club aims to consolidate its position in the league table and prepare for the upcoming matches, including the next match against Roma.
