Lazio coach, Gennaro Gattuso, expressed his expectations before the home match against Monza, underlining the importance of finding the right motivation for the players. In his interview with DAZN, Gattuso reiterated the need to face the match with energy and preparation, highlighting the young age of his rival and the difficulty of managing the challenges on the pitch.
Gattuso began his chat by talking about the tactical strategy: "We have to go strong because Monza is young, it's annoying to come and get you. We must not be unprepared. We must play on the second balls, attack, move..." With these words he tried to convey a message of determination, inviting the team to exploit recovery opportunities and maintain a constant offensive rhythm.
The coach then reflected on his personal journey as a coach. "I lived through a different era of football and being a coach helps you in the dynamics of the locker room. I've always thought that you have to take a step back like you do with your children. Now I've chosen what to get angry about and what not to, you have to find a key to get into the players' heads, to make them play in a certain way and to convince them to do certain things. The change was on my part. Before I got angry over nothing and now I don't", explained Gattuso, highlighting a transformation in his emotional management and ability to influence the team mentality.
This statement comes at a time when Lazio seeks to consolidate their position in Serie A, while Monza continues to show steady growth. Gattuso underlined the importance of not underestimating the young opponent and maintaining a proactive approach, both on the pitch and in the locker room. His vision focuses on developing a team culture based on discipline, motivation and the ability to adapt to competitive challenges.
With the match scheduled, Lazio will have to put Gattuso's instructions into practice, trying to exploit second balls and maintain a constant offensive rhythm. The objective is to obtain a positive result against a young and dynamic opponent, demonstrating that the team is ready to compete at a high level. The next step for Lazio will be to continue building on this mentality, so that the team can achieve its seasonal goals.
