After the 3‑1 defeat against Atalanta, Venezia coach Giovanni Stroppa spoke to DAZN, taking full responsibility for the team's performance and making it clear that the future cannot be decided by him.
Stroppa underlined that the team created many opportunities, but that these proved to be too few. "The goals we scored cannot be seen as a simple result; the management of the second half was of a high standard, but we gave away two decisive passes which turned into goals for the opponents." He added that although the team had been in good form, they could have been smarter and not left Atalanta as many opportunities.
The manager expressed remorse for the club's reputation, describing it as "in chiaroscuro" and "penalized in every way". He criticized the lightness with which the team dealt with some situations, underlining that the reaction on the pitch was valuable but that the team must adopt a more decisive attitude. “We are working to not only depend on ball possession, but to create concrete opportunities and score goals,” he said.
Stroppa also highlighted the importance of recovering key players and declared that they had given their all for the team. "I take all the responsibility. You don't have to ask me what will happen in the future," he said, indicating that the current results are penalizing but that his job was done to the best of his ability.
The club's future remains uncertain, but Stroppa reiterated his confidence in the team and its ability to improve. Venezia will now have to reflect on these criticisms and try to transform opportunities into goals, in order to return to form and compete more effectively in the next matches.
