Olympique de Marseille is already preparing for its winter transfer window, but the club remains blocked by its financial difficulties. According to Jean-François Pérès, relayed by La Tribune OM, two to three targeted players have already given their agreement in principle to join the Phocéen, even if the details remain unclear. OM management was thus able to establish an initial recruitment framework, but the actual completion of the signings will depend on the club's ability to get out of the red before the window.
The sticking point is clearly financial. Pérès recalls that Marseille must first “get out of the red” this winter to be able to invest again. No precise figures are provided, nor the exact nature of the expected measures, but the idea is that the club must first stabilize its budgetary situation before it can incur additional expenditure. Without this margin, the agreements in principle remain mere avenues, with no guarantee of implementation.
The two to three profiles concerned are not identified, nor the positions they could occupy. OM therefore has an initial working base, but it still lacks the contractual freedom to transform these avenues into concrete operations. Pérès emphasizes that the situation is “very uncertain” and calls for caution, because no transfer is presented as imminent. The Marseille management must therefore first resolve its financial problems before being able to finalize the files.
Despite these uncertainties, the club has already established contact with interested players, which is a step forward. However, financial condition remains the top priority. The next few weeks will be decisive to know if OM can really unlock their winter transfer window. If the budgetary situation improves, the agreements in principle could be transformed into concrete signings, allowing the Phocaean to strengthen its squad before the end of the season. Otherwise, the tracks will simply remain theoretical projects, with no immediate impact on the composition of the team.
