Juve Stabia continues to be talked about after the controversy of the last round against Virtus Entella. Midfielder Justin Kumi reviewed the episode of the penalty not awarded to the yellow-blues, during which the subsequent action brought the equalizer. In the talk show "Juve Stabia Live" Kumi explained why the referee's decision had a particularly impact on him and the team.
According to the player, the match was already over when the incident occurred. "I found myself having to overcome an opponent and I felt myself being torn until I fell. When the referee showed the yellow card, I thought it was for the opponent, but it was for me," said Kumi. The incredulous teammates protested, but the race director maintained his decision. “It wouldn't have made sense to throw myself against the goalkeeper in such a clear action, but there's no going back now,” he added. The player also suggested that, in "borderline" situations, it would be useful to have a player in the VAR room to better interpret the dynamics of the actions.
The midfielder then spoke about the next match against SudTirol, considering it fundamental for survival. "It's a crucial match, we have to win to get the three points. Every Sunday is a final for us and then we'll look at the table," he said. Kumi underlined the importance of the fans' support, calling them "warm and fundamental" and stating that they can become the twelfth man on the pitch. "We only ask that you always stay close to us; together we can reach the goal of salvation."
Meanwhile, the player recalled his choice to wear the Juve Stabia shirt in the summer. "I did it for the project and because here I found people who really love this shirt. The warmth of the South is unique," he explained. Kumi praised the coach, calling him "very qualified and demanding, extremely empathetic and who leaves nothing to chance". The midfielder added that the coach encourages him to play with personality and to continuously improve, both technically and in terms of game choices.
With the match against SudTirol scheduled, Juve Stabia is preparing for a decisive challenge. Midfielder Kumi, with his experience and commitment, hopes that the team can capitalize on the energy of the fans and the support of the club to ensure survival. Next week will be crucial to understand if Juve Stabia will be able to consolidate their position in Serie B and avoid relegation.
