The prof. Pino Capua, sports doctor and president of the FIGC Anti-Doping Commission, spoke live on TMW Radio during the "Maracanà" broadcast on the Tuttomercatoweb.com website. The interview focused on the present and future of Lazio, with a particular emphasis on the January transfer window.
Capua praised the management of Fabiani, Lazio's sporting director, defining this year's transfer market as "intelligent" and "zero euro". According to the expert, the acquisitions made with a minimal investment have produced a quality of players that has transformed the entire season. He cited the positive impact of Frattesi, whose arrival changed the team's mentality, as well as an episode in which Gattuso complained about a "knock in the teeth" in the Italian Cup which pushed the team to review their approach.
Capua stressed that the team is evolving gradually, with an attitude and perspective that are being reformulated. However, he warned that the January transfer window could pose a challenge: “Let's not take apart a wonderful toy.” The expert then invited fans to carefully consider transfer operations, as Lazio is building a team capable of entertaining and achieving exceptional results.
In the comparison with Roma, Capua observed that the Roma team went through a moment of decline, with a draw against Cagliari which showed a certain fear of playing. He also recalled an episode in which Roma scored two goals in two minutes. When asked to compare the two teams, he stated that no clear winner could be established: "Lazio is a surprise, Roma is a confirmation. Roma always gives the feeling of winning one way or another, while Lazio always surprises you."
The prof. Capua concluded the interview by inviting fans to carefully follow the next transfer market operations and to maintain faith in the team, which is demonstrating that it can compete at high levels. With the January transfer window upon us, Lazio will have to balance the need for reinforcements with the desire not to destroy the structure that has brought positive results so far.
