Levante received a penalty for throwing bottles onto the field during the 3-3 draw with Sevilla. The decision was made by the Disciplinary Committee of the RFEF, which imposed a fine for minor alteration of the order of the match.
The clash, held last Monday at the Ciutat de València, ended without either team managing to beat the other. In the 95th minute, when Sevilla was about to score its winning goal, there was an uproar in the stands. Numerous plastic bottles, cups and other objects were thrown onto the field of play, causing the match to be interrupted and causing concern for the players and technical staff.
The Disciplinary Committee applied article 117 of the disciplinary code, which establishes that "when, on the occasion of a match, events occur as defined in article 15 of this ordinance and are classified by the disciplinary body as minor, the responsible club will be sanctioned with a fine of up to 602 euros." In this case, the sanction was limited to a financial fine, avoiding more severe measures such as the partial closure of the stands from where the objects were thrown.
Levante, which had been accused of not having adequately controlled the situation, benefits from the decision by not facing a major sanction. The fine, although modest, serves as a reminder of the clubs' responsibility in managing their fans during matches.
With the sanction over, Levante will be able to concentrate on their next rounds in the League. The club must reinforce its security measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again and guarantee the integrity of the players and the stadium in future matches.
