Omari Hutchinson transformed Alphadjo Cisse's night into a real spectacle for the AC Milan fans. The Angolan player, who had had few opportunities up to that point, demonstrated that he was a player ready to give his all, thus earning a more solid place in the squad.
The match against Red Bull Salzburg was the highlight of his season. Hutchinson contributed decisively to the 2‑1 victory, providing the cross that led to Cisse's goal and initiating the move that led to the second goal. His performance was accompanied by spectacular dribbling, passing accuracy (91%) and four out of four successful dribbles. He also conceded just three fouls and received a single yellow card. A goal denied by the goalkeeper at the end of a fantastic move added spice to his performance.
Prior to this match, Hutchinson had only had 45 minutes of playing time against Benfica and 18 minutes in Serie A, with two brief spells against Lazio and Sassuolo which left him unable to get any space. The victory against Salzburg was therefore the turning point that changed coach Amorim's perception of him.
At the end of the match, the Angolan explained how he adapts to the role asked of him: "It depends on the match. Sometimes I play in the centre, sometimes I receive the ball wide on the wing. I like to play wide, but in all sincerity I just want to be on the pitch, wherever I have to play." This flexibility makes him an added value for the team.
With the season still underway, coach Amorim will be able to count on Hutchinson in future commitments, both in Serie A and in European competitions. The performance against Salzburg suggests that the Angolan player could become a key element in Milan's attacking strategy for the rest of the season.
