Alberto Mole—Villarreal midfielder—opened last night's press conference to announce the Champions League match against Napoli, scheduled for October 18th. The attacker expressed optimism about the result, citing the need to adapt to the new manager and take advantage of the club's favorable moment. "We arrive at a good time. When a new coach arrives you need some time to adapt, but we are getting along very well. We know what awaits us tomorrow and we are very confident, we think it can go well," he declared.
Mole recalled the difficulties of last year in the Champions League, but highlighted an improvement compared to the previous edition. "Last year we didn't do very well in this competition, but this year against Borussia Dortmund we played a quality match and we deserved a draw, given that we put them in difficulty. Tomorrow we want to win and give the fans what we weren't able to give them last year, namely the victory", he explained. The player also underlined the desire to play with identity and respect for the opponent, stating that "we have a great desire and are confident of obtaining the victory".
On Molein's role on the pitch, the forward responded that he feels comfortable in whatever position he is assigned. "This question shouldn't be asked of me. They always ask me where I am most comfortable, but I am comfortable in everything on the pitch, where I am asked to. Wherever I play, I will give my best," he said. As for Napoli, he acknowledged the difficulty of the match, describing it as "a very difficult match" and reiterated the need to give 100% to achieve victory.
Mole also mentioned a short conversation with RafaMarín, the new manager of Napoli, during which he asked about his form and motivation. "I spoke to him this week and he told me that he will kick me a lot (laughs). I have an excellent relationship with him, I spoke to him in recent days, about how he felt, how much he wanted to play. He is very happy with how Napoli's season started", he added.
Finally, the attacker recalled the defeat against RealMadrid, defining it as an important lesson. "We played very well on a very difficult pitch, against one of the best teams in the world and we were competitive. We would have deserved a little more in terms of results, but we took home some lessons." With these words, Mole closed the conference, leaving Villarreal fans with the expectation of a solid performance against a Napoli who present themselves as a very valuable opponent.
