Wednesday's match between Venezia and Inter, scheduled for 6.30pm, promises to be a real family event: the Stanković brothers, Filip and Aleksandar, will play against each other. Filip, Venezia goalkeeper, will be a starter for the first time in his career, while Aleksandar, Inter midfielder, will be part of the midfield chosen by the coach. The match, which will take place at the Marc'Antonio Bentegodi stadium, promises to be an opportunity not to be missed, especially for fans who will follow the emotional subplot of a family of footballers.
The match, which is the ninth day of Serie A, sees both clubs present their official lineups. Venezia opted for a 3-5-2 structure: Filip Stanković in goal, with Halhal, Moreno and Juan Jesus in defence; Hainaut, Kike Pérez, Sohm, Helgason and Mazzocchi in midfield; and Lauberbach and Adams on offense. Inter, also in 3-5-2, deployed Provedel in goal, with Bisseck, Bastoni and Carlos Augusto in defence; Diouf, Sucic, Aleksandar Stanković, Zielinski and Dimarco in midfield; and Thuram and Bonny in attack.
The comparison between the two brothers has never been direct in the club, but they have already played against each other with the Serbian national teams. Filip and Aleksandar, although different in age – Filip is three years older – shared the same national team, creating an interesting dynamic for fans. The Venezia coach, Chivu, chose Filip as the starter, thus marking a historic moment for the lagoon goalkeeper.
Among the curiosities of the event, the presence of his father Dejan Stanković, former footballer and coach, is expected, who could attend the match in Venice. The family, in fact, has roots strongly linked to Serbian football, and the match offers an opportunity to celebrate their sporting heritage. Despite the rivalry between the clubs, the event was welcomed with enthusiasm by both Venezia and Inter fans, who expressed their desire to see the two brothers compete in such a unique context.
With the match scheduled for Wednesday, fans can expect a match full of emotions and moments of great importance in the history of football. The final result, in addition to influencing the Serie A standings, will certainly be remembered for the exceptional family spectacle that took place on the pitch.
