Marco Carnesecchi opened his first press conference for the opening match of the UEFA Conference League, in which Atalanta will face Pafos. The meeting, held at the Bortolotti Center in Zingonia, was broadcast by the TUTTOmercatoWEB website and saw the goalkeeper talk about his role within the team and future ambitions.
In his speech Carnesecchi reiterated that he did not want to limit himself, stating that he was "proud to write history here". He explained that his position among the most present goalkeepers in Serie A gives him a particular responsibility, and expressed his desire to continue setting new records with Atalanta. The player also highlighted the importance of a solid defensive action, especially with the recent 4-4-2 formation, and underlined how this change motivates him to make a decisive contribution to the team.
Carnesecchi also spoke about his relationship with the defense and with coach Gian Piero Gasperini, highlighting his desire not to fear mistakes and to be determined in achieving his goals. He expressed confidence in the management of the club, especially regarding the transfer choices and the hiring of Sarri, and stated that Atalanta is in a phase of transformation compared to previous years. According to him, the key to success lies in the ability to quickly adapt to the different phases of the game and remove the "chains" that limit offensive creativity.
The goalkeeper also compared his style to that of Gianluigi Donnarumma, highlighting Donnarumma's importance to the Italian national team and his ability to maintain control of the game. Carnesecchi expressed gratitude for Donnarumma's presence and highlighted the interest in his contribution at the international level.
Finally, Atalanta closed the conference on a note of optimism: Carnesecchi declared that he wanted to further improve his high exits and precision with his feet, elements which, according to him, will bring benefits both on the pitch and in match management. With the match against Pafos scheduled for tomorrow, Atalanta aims to start its European campaign with strength and determination, seeking to consolidate its position among the most competitive teams on the continent.
