Moisés Caicedo, Chelsea's new captain, has expressed his enthusiasm for the club and for the colleagues who preceded him. In an interview with the club's official channels, the Colombian midfielder underlined the importance of Thiago Silva's leadership, defining him as a reference model for the team. "I learned a lot from those who preceded us, like Thiago Silva. He was an example for us, always trying to lend us a hand", declared Caicedo, highlighting how the figure of the veteran had a positive influence on the atmosphere on the pitch.
The young player then spoke about his role as captain, describing it as an honor and a source of pride for his family. “Today, playing the role of captain is a pleasure for me, as well as representing a source of special pride for my family,” he added. Caicedo also expressed his desire to continue growing under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's new technical director. “With Xabi I will certainly continue to grow, showing him that the trust he has placed in me is well placed,” he said, underlining the mutual trust between player and coach.
The midfielder then shared his feeling of belonging to the club, calling Chelsea "his home". “I can say that Chelsea is my home: they treat me as if I have been here for a long time,” he said, highlighting the welcome received from the staff, from the warehouse worker to the coach. Caicedo concluded the interview with a commitment to remain true to himself, on and off the pitch, and to continue to bring joy to the club. "The only thing I can promise is that I will continue to be myself, on and off the pitch. I want to always show my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans what I am capable of," he declared.
With the arrival of Xabi Alonso, Chelsea is preparing for a new phase of growth and consolidation. Caicedo, already a protagonist in the midfield, presents himself as a key element for the team, ready to guide his teammates towards new goals. The interview showed the player's determination to contribute to the club's success and continue to evolve under the direction of a new manager. Chelsea's future looks promising, with Caicedo at the heart of a team aiming to consolidate their position in the Premier League and European competitions.
