In the afternoon of the 6th matchday of Serie A, Napoli consolidated their position in the standings with a clear 3-0 victory against Frosinone, played at the San Paolo stadium. After the result, coach Massimiliano Allegri spoke to Sky to comment on the team's performance and provide some ideas for the future.
Allegri expressed satisfaction with the desire and aggression shown by the team at the start of the match, underlining that, despite some technical difficulties in the first half, the team managed to close out the actions and keep the defense under control. “We had 6 or 7 situations in which we weren't able to close the action, but then our opponents attacked us again and the match became a real ping pong,” said the coach. “In the second half we adopted a more defensive approach because we had spent a lot in the first half, but we were good and managed the key balls well.”
During the interview, Allegri also talked about key players and their performances. He praised Badiashile's role, stating that "you can't judge players on a single mistake" and that the evaluation of an athlete must be based on what he does during the entire season. As for De Bruyne, the coach underlined that the Belgian midfielder is an extraordinary player who, if he focuses on the playmaker role, can prolong his career and offer even more value to the team. “He likes to have fun up front and tonight he played a great game,” added Allegri.
Allegri also highlighted the need to improve defensive solidity in front of the opposition's box, citing the recent uncertainty of players such as Anguissa and Neres. “We will have to work on our physical condition and patience, but the important thing is that the team becomes solid in front of the area and concedes less,” explained the coach.
Finally, the coach commented on the recent additions and their performances, praising Di Lorenzo's ability to recover the team in critical moments. “He always has these insertions, he was especially good at winning them back,” said Allegri. As for Hojlund, the coach reported that the player received instructions from De Bruyne to return the ball after a penalty, showing good communication on the pitch.
With this result, Napoli moves further closer to the top of the table, as the club prepares for the next challenges of the season, focusing on consolidating the defense and maintaining the attacking quality that characterized its performance against Frosinone.
