Cagliari Calcio has made official the contract renewal of Paul Mendy, extending his stay with the rossoblù club until 30 June 2032. The news was communicated via a note on the club's official website, which detailed the path of the young striker and his performances in recent years.
Born on 13 January 2007 in Rufisque, Senegal, Mendy moved to Sardinia from ASC Bambey in February 2025. Initially placed in the U18 team, he scored three goals in eight games, immediately demonstrating considerable potential. His growth has been rapid: in 2026 he is already part of the U20 team, where he scored a brace against Sassuolo on 21 September and continued to score consistently, including a brace against Genoa on 1 February. These performances led the club to include him in the first team, where he made his debut aged 19 on 20 March 2026 against Napoli. On 27 April, in a match against Atalanta, he scored two goals in just eight minutes, contributing to the 3-2 victory at Unipol Domus.
Alongside his activities with the first team, Mendy continued to shine with the U20s, recording four goals and two assists in the final stages of the season. He also played a key role in the 3-0 win against Napoli in the play-out final, contributing a goal and two assists. In the league, the youngster was a point of reference for Pisacane's attack, appearing in nine matches and scoring in the 2-1 win against Atalanta, as well as providing an assist to Daniel Maldini in the match against Juventus. In the Italian Cup he also scored against Hellas Verona.
The club's statement underlined Mendy's qualities: physical strength, athleticism, technique and dynamism make him a modern central striker, capable of both playing alone and supporting his teammates. Furthermore, the club highlighted his human qualities, dedication to work and growth potential, defining him as one of the most interesting young players in Serie A. The renewal, which extends to 2032, confirms the club's confidence in his evolution and his future role within the team.
With the signing of the new contract, Paul Mendy will be able to continue to develop his career in Sardinia, contributing to Cagliari's success in both the league and the cup. The club wished the young man a bright future, reiterating the importance of his growth and commitment.
