The Getafe coach, JoséBordalás, spoke again at a press conference on Saturday, underlining the urgent need to correct the defensive “bleed” that has marked the team's recent matches. After a series of games in which the team has given up numerous goals, the coach insisted that the club must recover the defensive solidity that has characterized his previous teams.
Bordalás explained that the lack of players in various positions, especially in attack, has been a critical factor. “We only had one attacking player on the bench, which is not normal,” he said. He compared the situation with that of Sevilla, which has five high-level wide players, and highlighted the lack of options at Getafe. The coach also recalled the 4-0 defeat against Athletic and the 2-3 elimination of Lebrijana in the Copa del Rey, pointing out that the team is not in the best position, although he stressed that there is still a lot of League left to play.
To address defensive errors, Bordalás indicated that the coaching staff has worked intensively with the players, reviewing videos and analyzing recurring errors. "We have talked, analyzed and watched videos. We have to correct this bleeding as soon as possible because we cannot allow ourselves to concede that number of goals," he warned. Likewise, he asked for greater effectiveness in the offensive phase, pointing out that the team needs more definition and finishing.
As for the squad, the coach confirmed that ZaidRomero will remain out after a relapse in his recovery process. On the other hand, he announced that OrelMangala will be available for the next match against Sevilla, after having scored Getafe's third goal in the Copa del Rey. Mangala, who has returned to activity after an injury, will appear with more energy and is expected to contribute in the midfield.
Getafe faces an important challenge: competing in three competitions with a squad that Bordalás considers limited in certain areas. Despite the difficulties, the coach maintains confidence in the available players and emphasizes the need for the team to improve both in defense and attack to be able to “win and compete” against rivals like Sevilla. With the season still underway, the next game will be crucial to evaluate if the measures adopted manage to reverse the team's negative defensive trend.
