Atalanta ended their first Conference League match with a clear 3‑1 against Pafos, thanks to a decisive goal from Gianluca Scamacca which helped set the team in motion on a very successful evening. The Roman center forward, after leading the team on the pitch, intervened to comment on the victory and to analyze his current form. “It was a fantastic evening: we wanted to win and we started well,” said Scamacca, highlighting the importance of starting with a positive result.
During the match, however, an accident occurred that worried the fans: Jack Raspadori got hurt. The player, who played a key role in the match, said the injury was not expected and expressed hope that it was not a serious injury. "It's sad for him. Let's hope it's nothing serious," added Scamacca, showing solidarity with his teammate.
The match was not only an opportunity for victory in Europe, but also to consolidate Atalanta's position in Serie A. The next match will be against Milan, a match that the team considers particularly difficult. “It will be a very tough match,” confirmed Scamacca, underlining the need to prepare adequately to face one of the most competitive teams in the championship.
Scamacca also spoke about his personal form and the new goal record he achieved, a result that made him part of Atalanta's history. "The worst is over. I went through difficult years due to injuries, but now I feel good and motivated", said the player, highlighting how his experience and determination are fundamental for the team.
On a tactical level, the center forward explained the difference between the two game formations most used by the Dea: the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-3-3. “In the 4-3-3 you are a little more isolated, while with an attacking midfielder you have more support and are more offensive,” he observed, indicating how the choice of system can influence the role of each player. Furthermore, he spoke about the alternation in attack with Krstović, underlining the importance of playing fresh players and having substitutes of equivalent level.
Finally, Scamacca highlighted the motivation that Europe brings to the team. "Europe is stimulating. We aim to get as far as possible and win it," he declared. With the victory against Pafos and the prospect of a crucial match against Milan, Atalanta is preparing to continue its run both in the league and in European competition, with the aim of consolidating its position and reaching new goals.
