Venezia has closed the last phase of the search for the coach, with DavideNicola at the top of the candidate list. The coach, who led Sampdoria and Fiorentina in the past, was overtaken by former Orange-Green Paolo Zanetti, but the lagoon club declared that it had already started negotiations with Nicola and wanted to confirm him as soon as possible. The objective is to bring the team, which has suffered six defeats in six SerieA games, back into a more competitive position.
According to TMW sources, the agreement with Venezia is now "one step away" and contacts between the two parties are intensifying. The lagoon club has expressed its desire to formalize the contract with Nicola by the end of the transfer window, in order to give a new direction to the team. In the meantime, the coach has already started negotiations with Cremonese for the termination of his current contract, so that he can fully dedicate himself to his new role.
In Nicola's new staff at Venezia, the club has confirmed that SimoneBarone will not be present. The former midfielder, who accompanied the coach on various experiences - from Salerno to Empoli, Cagliari and finally to Cremonese - will not be part of the new team. Venezia therefore intends to build a different working group, in line with Nicola's vision for the team.
Venezia, who have suffered a series of defeats in SerieA, are looking to get back on track with a coach who has experience managing teams in difficulty. The possible appointment of DavideNicola would represent an important step for the company, which needs stability and a long-term recovery plan. If the agreement materializes, the manager will be able to start working with the players already halfway through the season, with the aim of avoiding relegation and laying the foundations for a more solid season.
