Pere Romeu has reached 100 victories with FC Barcelona, a milestone that was achieved in 109 official matches, including matches in Denmark and in the Champions League. The figure of 91.74% wins, 449 goals for and only 55 against reflects the efficiency of the coach, who has also won eight titles and has been named best coach at the Ballon d'Or gala.
The centenary was celebrated last weekend when the Blaugrana team defeated HB Koge 8‑0 in a Champions League match in Denmark. The victory not only marked a historic victory, but also confirmed the number of victories that Romeu had accumulated since his arrival on the bench of the women's first team. Just days before, the coach had received the award for best coach of the year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, a recognition that underlines his rise within European football.
Romeu, 33, was born in Barcelona and his relationship with the club dates back to 2017, when he joined the Barça men's youth academy. There he worked with several generations, including future international Gavi, and later briefly moved to Romanian football before returning in 2021 to join Jonatan Giráldez's coaching staff. For three seasons she was an assistant coach, participating in tactical preparation and match analysis, which allowed her to understand the functioning of one of the most dominant women's teams in the world.
With the departure of Giráldez, the club opted for continuity and appointed Romeu as first coach in June 2024. His official debut was on September 8, when they beat Deportivo de La Coruña 3-0. Results have since backed up the club's decision. In his first season he won the League, the Queen's Cup and the Spanish Super Cup, in addition to reaching the final of the Champions League, where he lost to Arsenal. In the following campaign, they once again won national titles and regained the European crown by beating Olympique Lyonnais 4‑0 in the final in Oslo.
Romeu has also placed emphasis on training young talents. Under his direction, 22 youth players have made their official debut with the first team, which demonstrates his commitment to La Masia and his vision of the future for the club. The rout against HB Koge, with goals from Claudia Pina, Graham Hansen, Ewa Pajor, Esmee Brugts, Patri Guijarro, Clara Serrajordi and Kika Nazareth, was the perfect way to celebrate Romeu's centenary of victories and consolidate his legacy as Barça coach.
