Lecce coach Eusebio DiFrancesco has announced his intention to introduce changes to the lineup before the match against Udinese, underlining that "there will be changes compared to the last match" against Bologna. In the press conference held last afternoon at "Via del Mare", DiFrancesco highlighted the availability of key players such as Geubbels, Stulic and Esteban, elements that will allow him to experiment with a double attacker even during the match. The coach also reiterated the importance of choosing the most suitable trident, leveraging Geubbels' physical growth and the need to consolidate the defensive compactness that characterized previous performances.
The context of the match was described as a challenge against a team "that must win", but Lecce also needs to get results. DiFrancesco praised Udinese's quality and physicality, citing Davis as a high-level player who can make the difference. He also underlined that, although Udinese is used to playing in high-level leagues, Lecce must still try to gain points, especially considering the seventh matchday of the championship and the long journey that the team will have to face.
As for the attacking phase, the coach asked the players to "clean the first ball" after the recovery to improve possession and transition. He acknowledged that Lecce still makes mistakes at this stage, but expressed confidence in the individual qualities of the players and the ability of teamwork to reduce such errors. DiFrancesco also mentioned the possibility of using Gorter, despite his recent inactivity, and indicated Ngom as the most suitable solution to replace Ilic, who will be absent for some time.
In terms of offensive wingers, the coach declared that the choice will depend on the matches. He reported that he used N'Dri very little last year, but that he saw him more active this year, with greater participation in both the build-up and attack phases. He also highlighted the importance of rotating players on the wings, as these roles require constant energy and can be changed more frequently.
Finally, DiFrancesco commented positively on the evolution of Gandelman, who showed a notable improvement in training after returning from the break. He stressed that the player is now more ready to contribute to the attack, especially in high balls, and expressed satisfaction with his ability to absorb knee pain. The coach closed the conference by stating that he did not want to expand the discussion on Banda's case, believing that he does not deserve the club's attention.
