Mario Gila chose Milan for his first experience of the Milanese derby, rejecting Inter during the summer. The Spanish defender, who confirmed his decision at the Trento Sports Festival, explained that the choice was not purely personal but based on a broader evaluation of the football context. "I considered that the most suitable team for me was Milan. Going to a team that has to win and take important things in Italy and Europe has more value for me than a team that has already won everything", declared Gila, highlighting the importance of a continuous challenge.
Milan suffered the loss of Simon Kjaer and looked for a defender with personality and versatility. Gila quickly proved himself to be a pillar of the Rossoneri defence, showing high-level performances and the ability to also play as a right-back when necessary. His contribution was crucial in maintaining the club's defensive solidity, especially in the absence of other key players due to injuries.
According to the average rating statistics, Gila occupies fourth place for performance within Milan with a score of 6.43. He is also the third best central defender in Serie A, only behind Roma's Balerdi and Jacobo Ramon from Como. This position makes him a crucial element for the club, especially in view of the Milan derby, where the defense will be under pressure.
Gila's return to the pitch was considered crucial to Milan's preparation for the derby. His presence on the pitch is seen as a key factor in consolidating the defensive line and ensuring stability in a match of great importance. The club has highlighted the importance of having a quality defender capable of handling the most intense challenges, especially with competition in Serie A and European competitions.
With the derby imminent, Milan aims to exploit Gila's defensive solidity to counter their opponent's offensive strength. The club hopes to maintain its position in the table and continue to compete for national and European titles, with Gila playing a key role in the defensive strategy. The next step will be to see how Milan will use their experience and versatility in one of the most important matches of the season.
