Luis Enrique has confirmed his continuity at Paris Saint-Germain with the signing of a contract extension that links him to the club until 2030. The news, published on Monday after an interview with the PSG media, comes just after the team's 3-1 victory over Le Mans on Saturday. In the conversation, the Asturian recalled his arrival on the bench in July 2023 and highlighted that he had never before spent so long at the head of a club, after experiences in Rome, Celta, Barcelona and the Spanish team.
The coach expressed his deep affection for Paris, describing him as “different and special.” He pointed out that the trust of the club, the president and Luis Campos, his sports advisor, has allowed him to establish an authentic connection with the fans and with the institution. “I am a foreigner, but I hope to remain linked to this city for the rest of my life,” he stated, underlining the importance of continuity and the bond with the fans.
Luis Enrique also spoke about his playing philosophy and the constant search for victory. “The desire to win is an essential characteristic of the elite,” he said, adding that their goal is “to win and keep winning.” He mentioned the need for players to assume responsibilities and understand the game scheme to make decisions on the field, avoiding the imposition of rigid instructions. According to him, success depends on the collaboration between coach and players, and the ability of each one to adapt to the demands of the game.
The issue of the relationship with Luis Campos was also highlighted. The coach remembered Campos' first visit home and the immediate confidence he felt. “He was someone I didn't really know yet, but I already felt that he trusted me and wanted to do great things for the club,” he explained. For Luis Enrique, this trust is one of the keys to PSG's success, as it allows the sporting director and the coach to share a common vision to sign the right players.
Regarding his personal perspective, Luis Enrique insisted that he does not compare himself with other coaches. “I have never been motivated to compare myself to other coaches,” he said. Instead, he prefers to go his own way and constantly question the way he wants his team to play. “Defeats force us to question ourselves,” he noted, stressing that the ambition to win trophies remains intact, but that accepting defeat is an essential part of the life of a football professional.
With the contract extended until 2030, Luis Enrique is preparing to continue his fourth season at PSG, with the goal of consolidating the Parisian identity and continuing to compete for titles. The club and the coach hope that the new stage will allow the team to strengthen its position in Ligue 1 and in European competitions, while maintaining the passion and connection with the fans that characterize the French capital.
