Bologna ended their away trip with a convincing 2‑0 win over Cagliari, once again demonstrating their ability to beat their opponents away from home. The result was driven by Matteo Casale's return to scoring, who scored after more than three years, and by Federico Bernardeschi's first goal, which consolidated Bologna's superiority.
The match, played at the Unipol Domus stadium, was initially a balanced match. In the first half, the two teams had few concrete opportunities; Cagliari's Mendy and Odgaard attempted to create danger, but Bologna remained calm. The situation changed in the second half, when Cagliari suffered an injury to Winks, which disrupted their attacking strategy. Bologna then took control of the game, creating numerous shooting opportunities.
The first goal came in the 58th minute, when Miranda's perfect corner was met by Casale, who used the time to overcome the defense and put the ball in the net. This was Casale's first goal in Serie A since 29 January 2023, when he scored against Lazio. The goal gave Bologna a lead which they maintained until the end of the match. In the 80th minute, Bernardeschi extended the result with a long-range shot that beat the Cagliari defense, thanks to a save by Juan Rodríguez who cleared the ball. The referee confirmed the goal, bringing the score to 2‑0.
After the match, coach Fabio Pisacane commented on the result, underlining that Bologna demonstrated that they can handle the pressure and maintain their offensive identity even away from home. He also highlighted the importance of not getting overwhelmed and continuing to work with discipline. Raffaele Palladino, assistant coach, expressed the hope that the team can maintain this winning spirit, recalling that the championship is balanced and that every match is crucial for the standings.
With this victory, Bologna confirms itself as a force on the road, with eight of the last ten victories won away from home. Cagliari, in contrast, have shown weak form, managing to pick up just one point in their last three matches. Bologna's 2‑0 result over Cagliari strengthens their position in the league table and puts them in a stronger position to face the next Serie A challenges.
