Sassuolo's summer was characterized by important changes both on and off the pitch. The club had to say goodbye to Giovanni Carnevali, a long-time ally of the management and now CEO of Juventus, while negotiations for the sale of Muharemovic led to a significant agreement. Francesco Palmieri, sporting director of the Emilians, expressed his appreciation for the choice of Carnevali and illustrated the details of Muharemovic's transaction.
Palmieri said he was satisfied with Carnevali's decision to join Juventus, calling him a "great manager" and wishing him success at the new club. "I was happy for him. He had this opportunity and he took it: I'm very happy for him, he went to a big club and maybe he even went there late. He's a great manager. I hope he thinks the same of me", commented the sporting director. His tone reflects the desire to maintain good relations with market partners, even if Carnevali's departure has left a void within the structure.
Regarding the sale of Muharemovic, Palmieri explained that it was a "big" and "very important" operation. The player, who had already been purchased by Juventus two years earlier, was the subject of numerous requests from Italian and foreign clubs. "This summer I found myself with many requests for a very strong player, who I am convinced can grow even more. A very important operation was carried out, profitable for the player but also for us: in Italy there was no team that had shown great attention, while from abroad there were several interested clubs", explained Palmieri. The agreement represented an advantage for both Sassuolo and Juventus, which was able to free up space for new investments.
Meanwhile, the club continues to focus on the future with the emerging talent of Adžic. Palmieri praised Aquilani's role in developing young players, highlighting how his ability to inspire and motivate is crucial to the development of talents like Adžic. "Great credit goes to Aquilani: when he sees the players, he conveys something different. Adžic is a talent, in my opinion he is a player of great prospect. Alberto, then, is the perfect coach to bring out the best in these kids, young and old", said the sporting director.
With these operations, Sassuolo is preparing for a new season with a leaner and future-oriented team. While the club focuses on consolidating its internal resources, the sale of Muharemovic and the departure of Carnevali have left a significant mark on the summer transfer market. The next step will be to see how the new signings and growing talent will integrate into the club's playing strategy, as the management continues to look for opportunities to strengthen the squad and maintain competitiveness in Serie A.
