Marco Baroni, coach of Hellas Verona, called for a speedy recovery after the defeat against Modena, with the match against Catanzaro scheduled for 16 October. In the press conference, the coach underlined that the last three defeats are not acceptable and expressed his desire to change course with "great conviction and determination". Verona, in an unfavorable ranking position, has to face an opponent who, although in difficulty, has quality players, especially in attack. Baroni reiterated the importance of facing the challenge with the utmost seriousness, recalling that the team cannot afford "ups and downs" and must find continuity both on the pitch and in the championship.
The coach analyzed the data from the match against Modena, highlighting that, although Verona kicked more times on target, they conceded more goals than shots conceded. He also mentioned that, compared to Catanzaro, Verona concede fewer shots but concede more goals, and that the duels won are often at a disadvantage. Baroni underlined that the team must improve its ability to "get dirty" and handle pressure, while maintaining a clean attitude. He also expressed his confidence in the team's ability to overcome individual mistakes and find practical solutions to technical and tactical problems.
Regarding the squad, Baroni spoke about the absence of some key players. Suslov, who returned from the national team with a muscle problem, is recovering and should return to work with the team within the next week. Bradaric, with a significant sprain, is expected to be out for three or four weeks, while Serdar has a similar recovery time. The coach also mentioned the possible choice between Perilli and Leali as starting goalkeeper, stating that the decision is not a "failure" of either of them.
On the pitch, Baroni declared that he wanted to carefully evaluate the formation for the match against Catanzaro, focusing not only on the technical-tactical aspect but above all on the attitude, posture and look of the players. He reiterated that anyone who does not demonstrate "the right attitude" will remain out of the team. The coach also explained that Verona must adapt to a new game module, where the players must cover more meters and also work in the defensive phase, in line with the team philosophy adopted this year.
Finally, Baroni highlighted that, despite the difficulties, the team is still motivated and determined to carry out the project it presented at the beginning of the season. He asked the players to maintain clarity and give their all, recalling that the team has already demonstrated its strength when facing high-level opponents. With the match against Catanzaro imminent, Hellas Verona must demonstrate that they can react and that they can return to seriously competing for the Serie B table.
