Venezia have decided to end their relationship with coach Giovanni Stroppa, who was fired after losing the first six games of the season, including the 3‑1 defeat against Atalanta. The company announced its professional separation, leaving open the search for a new coach for the lagoon club.
In the meantime, the club is already working to identify a replacement. Three names are at the center of the negotiations: Paolo Zanetti, Davide Nicola and Roberto D'Aversa. Zanetti is the main candidate, having already managed Venezia in the past. During the 2020/21 season he led the lagoon players to promotion to Serie A, but was sacked in April of the following season after a series of eight consecutive defeats. At the end of that championship, Venezia was relegated to Serie B. The club is interested in bringing him back to the bench, hoping to resume the growth that began under his leadership.
Davide Nicola is another figure under consideration. The coach has extensive experience in Serie A and B and could offer a different perspective to the club. Meanwhile, Roberto D'Aversa, who had already shown interest during the national team break, remains a key candidate. His availability has been the subject of discussion, but it is unclear whether he has changed his mind since he was contacted.
Venezia has therefore opened a period of active search for a new coach, with the aim of finding a candidate who can lead the club towards stability and success in Serie A. The decision to fire Stroppa was made following disappointing results, and the club hopes to find a solution that can reverse the negative trend. The club is expected to officially announce the new coach next week, while the transfer market remains awaiting further developments.
