Venezia have decided to sack coach Giovanni Stroppa after a Serie A season which left the team at the bottom of the table with zero points. The decision comes at a time of great frustration, as the first six days of the championship saw the lagoon players without any positive results. The club, which had aimed at an ambitious project, was unable to translate the investment on the pitch into points on the scoreboard.

The orange-green club spent a good 45 million euros in the 2026 summer transfer market to strengthen the squad, an amount that far exceeds the revenues generated from the previous season, which stood at around 30 million. The money was allocated to several positions, with the most expensive transfer being midfielder Akor Adams from Sevilla priced at €16 million. Other signings include Albion Rrahmani from Sparta Prague (7.5 million), Armel Bella‑Kotchap from Hellas Verona (7 million), Redouane Halhal from Mechelen (5 million) and Kornel Lisman from Lech Poznan (2.5 million). Loan and free players such as Pasquale Mazzocchi from Napoli, Matias Moreno from Fiorentina and others have also been added to complete the squad.

Despite the investment, the result on the field was disappointing. Akor Adams, the most expensive player, scored just one goal in almost 500 minutes of play, while the team overall failed to get any points in their opening games. The technical management tried to create an ambitious game project, but the difficulties resulted in a series of defeats and, consequently, a bottom position in the rankings.

With Stroppa's dismissal, the club is preparing for a new phase of search for a new coach. The sports management will have to evaluate the options available to get the team back on track, trying to make the most of the financial resources and recent acquisitions. In the meantime, fans are waiting for a turning point that can bring Venezia back towards the middle of the table and, above all, avoid the risk of relegation.
