Matteo Gabbia, Milan defender, has received the results of tests on the injury suffered during the match against Sassuolo, in which Milan had drawn 1-1. The coach announced that the young player, who started the season as a starter, was taken out on a stretcher in the 20th minute due to a problem with his left thigh flexor muscle.
Instrumental tests revealed a lesion of the left thigh flexor muscle with partial tendon involvement. Gabbia had already had some ankle problems between August and September, but the new injury is more serious and will require more in-depth surgery. The 27-year-old will undergo a specialist consultation to define the most appropriate therapeutic path: both surgery and conservative therapy are under discussion.
According to information provided by the club, in both cases the defender will have to stop playing for several months. Recovery times are not yet precisely defined, but it is unlikely that Gabbia will return to the pitch before 2027. Milan have therefore started the necessary procedures for his recovery, with the aim of ensuring a prompt and safe reintegration into the team.
Milan have already warned fans that Gabbia's situation is serious and that the club is doing everything possible to speed up his return. The team, which has suffered a number of injuries this season, will have to look to cover the central defense position during his absence. In the meantime, the club continues to closely monitor the player's condition and provide updates on his health.
