Antonio Cassano spoke openly about his brief experience at Real Madrid, giving an interview in which he revealed the reasons for his difficulties and his reflections on the time spent in the Spanish capital. The former player, known for his lively personality and technical talents, admitted that he had "enormous talent but little sacrifice", a fact which, according to him, was known to everyone.
In 2005, when Cassano arrived at Real Madrid, his presentation was marked by an unprofessional look: an unpleasant jacket and a style that did not suit the occasion. “I was a fool, I didn't understand what was going on in my head,” he said, acknowledging that his behavior was “shit” and that his lifestyle, characterized by food, parties and little training, had led him to be ten kilos overweight. Despite this, Cassano stated that he was happy to be part of such a prestigious team, although he admitted that he had "thrown away" the opportunity to triumph with the Galàcticos.
The player also recalled the big names he met in Madrid, including Ronaldo, Zidane and Guti, but stressed that his mind was occupied by different thoughts. “I lacked my head,” he said, adding that if he had had the same concentration as Cassano today, he could have spent ten years with the team. Despite the difficulties, the memory of Real Madrid remains a source of pride for him, and continues to be remembered when he meets people.
Cassano concluded the interview by underlining his admiration for Real Madrid, calling it "the greatest team in history". In view of the match against Roma, the former Bari Vecchia talent prepared to talk about his experience, offering a personal perspective on a period which, although marked by mistakes, remains a significant chapter in his career.
