Gerry Cardinale declared that Milan can win the scudetto with 100% chance, in an interview given to LaGazzetta dello Sport shortly before the derby. The president expressed total confidence in the team, stating that he dreams of a series of successes that translate into daily victories and that he wants to build a growth path step by step.
Cardinale underlined his complete trust in Ruben Amorim, the club's new coach. He compared the relationship with the coach to a “joke” from the movie TopGun, where the support driver never abandons the driver. According to the president, Amorim is a professional who manages the players well and is leading the group towards constant improvement. He reiterated that he will not make the same mistakes as in the past and that he will remain at the coach's side until a leap in quality is achieved.
Furthermore, Cardinale expressed appreciation for Amorim's management, underlining that the coach does not need constant support on his neck: "he has everything under control and makes people grow". He also took a dig at the previous coach, Allegri, without naming him directly, highlighting the difference between the current management and that of the past.
The president concluded the interview with the optimism that Milan can win the title, aiming for a "one match at a time" winning strategy and a constant approach to improvement. With the derby imminent, the club aims to consolidate their position in the table and demonstrate that the race for the championship is still ongoing.
