The president of FCNantes, Waldemar Kita, went this Thursday morning to the Jonelière sports center to motivate his players before the match against Dunkirk, without addressing the question of the sale of the club. After the training session, he held a long discussion with coach Grégory Poirier, then spoke to the players and the technical staff for around fifteen minutes. According to information reported by Ouest-France, the main objective of this intervention was to support the team on a sporting level, while recent results show an improvement.
The Canaries have just won 2-1 against Boulogne-sur-Mer and drawn 0-0 against Reims. Kita wanted to rely on these two performances to mobilize the group before the next duel. In an interview after the visit, Poirier confirmed that the president's message was simple sporting encouragement, without mention of the sale of the club. He clarified that the president had not mentioned any discussions concerning a possible sale of the club, and that the aim was simply to push the players to maintain the positive dynamic before Saturday's match at Beaujoire.
This clarification comes as the future of the club is regularly discussed. In September, Kita signed a sales agreement with a consortium of investors led by Franco-Portuguese businessman Paulo Tavares. However, the transaction remains pending, because it must still be validated by the DNCG, the body responsible for the financial control of French clubs. While awaiting a final decision, Kita continues to closely monitor the sporting situation of the Canaries.
For Poirier and his team, the priority is now to consolidate the progress observed during the last two matches and prepare for the confrontation with Dunkirk. The club announced, during a press conference, the absences of Cafaro, Mirbach and Tati for the match, while Sekou Doucouré remains doubtful due to injury. The people of Nantes will have the opportunity to continue this dynamic on Saturday, in front of their audience at La Beaujoire, hoping that the support of the president and the imminent financial stability will make it possible to achieve their objectives.
