Milan finally recovered their typical “Milan zone”, managing to score three goals in just 49 minutes of play, with Alphadjo Cissé scoring a hat-trick. The performance, which occurred in the match against Salzburg, demonstrated that the Rossoneri can create goals already in the first hour, a situation they had not experienced in any of the previous matches of the season. The only goal scored in the first half of a match before this match was Christian Pulisic's against Lecce, in the 14th minute.
The "Milan zone" manifested itself above all between the 61st and 69th minutes, an interval in which the coach saw 8 of the 11 goals of the season. In that period, Cissé scored two goals (64' and 68') and Rabiot scored in the 66th minute, while Ramos found the net in the 69th minute against Venezia. Other goals in that interval were those by Moreira (65' and 67') against Lazio, Rabiot (61') against Lecce and two more by Rabiot (64') against Sassuolo. The exceptions to this sequence were Halhal's own goal in the 69th minute in the match against Venezia and Moreira's goal in the 73rd minute against Lecce. With the current result, Milan added a further goal from Cissé (15', 32' and 49') and one from Gonçalo Ramos (72') against Salzburg.
The management of the match was very efficient: the coach closed the substitution process immediately, relying on the 11 starters without intervening. The players demonstrated that they had the necessary pace and the need for substitutions was limited to those who could not maintain speed or manage the pace of play, as in the case of Rabiot. In the past, substitutions had been essential to change the momentum of the match, but on this occasion Milan showed complete control from the start.
Coach Amorim expressed satisfaction with the performance, stating that in other matches they had had more control, but today they managed to score. He stressed that the matches were better and that, if they had been more precise in five situations, they could have scored more goals. The coach also highlighted the importance of looking beyond the result, focusing on improving the game.
Until the next international break, Milan will have to face a series of important challenges: the match against Atalanta on 22 October, the visit to Bournemouth on 25 October, the match in Udinese on 28 October, the match in Bologna on 31 October, the match against Inter on 5 November, the match against Ferencvaros on 8 November and the final match against Genoa. With their recent upturn in form, the Rossoneri appear ready to continue their run towards the top of Serie A.
