The selection of the typical team for the eighth day of Ligue1, drawn up by the daily L’Équipe, has just been revealed. It highlights the notable performances of three clubs: OM, Stade Rennais and RCLens, who all have three points to support their respective campaigns.
The OM match against Le Havre ended 4–3 in favor of Bruno Genesio's team, despite a very tense end to the match which thrilled the Marseille supporters. Among the players praised, Himad Abdelli, Igor Paixão and Emerson are in the selection. Abdelli particularly shone as an attacker, demonstrating excellent technique, great availability and an ability to direct the game. His role in the offensive phases, notably in finding the net, confirmed his rise in the Olympian jersey and rewarded the efforts made since the start of the season.
Stade Rennais meanwhile secured a convincing 3–0 victory against RCStrasbourg at Roazhon Park. The L’Équipe selection highlights Charlie Cresswell, Valentin Rongier, Sebastian Szymański and Boulaye Dia, four profiles illustrating Rennes’ complementarity. Cresswell, central defender, showed great solidity, winning numerous duels and securing the Rennes goal thanks to quality restarts. Rongier, midfielder, brought his experience and volume of play, facilitating transitions and controlling several sequences. Szymański, for his part, was the architect of the victory by scoring twice, demonstrating his ability to project himself into the area and attempt shots from distance. Boulaye Dia also contributed to the offensive celebration.
Finally, RCLens won a 2–1 victory against Paris FC in Bollaert, thanks in particular to Florian Thauvin. The Lensois striker was decisive by equalizing the score with a nice strike and delivering an assist to Thorgan Hazard, who sealed the victory. Thauvin, with a goal and an assist, established himself as the centerpiece of the match and, more broadly, of the club's start to the season.
These performances highlight the dynamics of each team at mid-season. OM maintains its rhythm, Stade Rennais positions itself at the top of Ligue1 thanks to a solid defense and a prolific attack, while RCLens shows that it can compete with the big clubs thanks to key players. The next few days promise to continue this fierce competition, with each team looking to consolidate their position in the rankings.
