On 28 October the first preliminary Services Conference relating to the project for a new stadium for Hellas Verona FC took place in Verona. The meeting, held in the Sala Gozzi of Palazzo Barbieri, was convened by the mayor Damiano Tommasi, who opened the session together with the architect Andrea Alban, Sole Responsible for the Procedure (RUP). The meeting saw the participation of the club's executive president, Italo Zanzi, operations director Giuseppe Bruno and stadium manager Andrea Poncato, as well as representatives of the multidisciplinary team of strategic and technical partners, including Gensler, Colliers, Linklaters, Sportium, Arup, iDEAS and KPMG.
During the conference, the technical, architectural and strategic details of the project were illustrated. The club has presented a redevelopment plan which includes not only the construction of a new facility, but also the construction of a temporary stadium in via Sogare, the renovation of the Olimpia pitches and the renovation of the existing anti-stadium. The goal is to create a modern, multifunctional infrastructure capable of hosting international events 365 days a year, in addition to football matches. The project, according to Zanzi, was carried out with a team of top-level professionals at a local, national and international level, with the aim of generating lasting value for the club, the fans and the Veronese community.
Mayor Tommasi underlined that the session made it possible to present not only the project, but also all the studies and professionals involved in the legal, structural, plant engineering and design fields. He also highlighted that confirmation of the inclusion of Verona among the candidate venues for UEFA Euro 2032 is expected before the conclusion of this preliminary phase, scheduled for the beginning of December. Once the preliminary phase is completed, the club will present the final project, a fundamental step for the recognition of public interest and the start of the tender procedure.
Zanzi thanked the Municipality of Verona for the "spirit of institutional collaboration" and reiterated that the economic-financial results of the project indicate a solid and sustainable work, capable of guaranteeing important positive impacts for the club and the territory. He also expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity that the new stadium represents for the city and its inhabitants. With the conference concluded, the club is preparing to present the final project, while the Municipality of Verona awaits confirmation of the candidacy for Euro 2032 before proceeding with the next phase.
