Aurelio DeLaurentiis is seriously considering the possibility of selling the Naples club within the next few years, with the aim of maintaining control of the club for a couple of seasons before passing the baton. His ideal is that the new ownership is Neapolitan, thus avoiding giving in to the American group which has already made offers of two billion euros. In this context, the Aponte family has emerged as a potential partner.
The Aponte family is made up of Gianluigi Aponte, founder and historic president of MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company), and his two children, Diego Aponte, president of the MSC group, and Alexa Aponte, financial manager. Gianluigi transferred the operations of the group to his children, leaving the day-to-day management to Diego and Alexa. Since they came into contact with DeLaurentiis, the discussions have covered various areas: the current sponsorship of the shirt, the possibility of selling the naming rights of the new stadium and, more generally, the possible entry of the Aponte family into the Napoli club.
According to sources, the Aponte family holds an estimated wealth of over 70 billion euros, which makes the investment proposal very attractive. The group has demonstrated that it has the financial resources to guarantee a stable and prosperous future for the Neapolitan club. The prospect of a partnership with such a solid group is seen as an opportunity to consolidate Napoli's position both in Italy and in Europe.
Diego Aponte has a long career in the maritime industry. A graduate in Maritime Studies, he joined MSC in 1997, starting as a junior engineer on board ships to gain practical experience. He subsequently worked in several departments, including trade routes in Latin America and the United States, and identified an opportunity to invest in terminal infrastructure in the 1990s. In 2000 he founded Terminal Investment Limited S.A. (TiL), which has become one of the world's leading terminal operators. He is currently president of TiL and continues to lead the growth strategy of the MSC group.
As yet, no official statements have been published from DeLaurentiis or the Aponte family regarding a final settlement. However, negotiations appear to be progressing in a constructive way, with both parties interested in exploring the possibilities of a collaboration that can guarantee Napoli's continuity and growth. If the discussions conclude positively, the Neapolitan club could see a new chapter of investment and financial stability, with the Aponte family preparing to take an active part in the management and development of the club.
