Real Madrid achieved a 4-3 victory against Roma, thanks to a spectacular comeback that highlighted the team's strength of character and the effectiveness of the substitutions. Federico Valverde, Uruguayan midfielder, expressed his appreciation for Los Blancos' response, but also underlined the difficulties encountered from the start of the match.
In the first half, according to Valverde, the two teams played in a balanced way, but both had difficulty converting the opportunities created. “We studied certain situations in training, but we weren't able to develop them as we wanted,” explained the player during the interview on Movistar. The midfielder added that the team showed character, reacting to the disadvantage and starting to execute the expected tactics: "creating spaces in the middle of the pitch, attacking depth and looking for one-on-ones more often".
Valverde recognized that, if they had done their duty from the start, the match would have been much less complicated. “As a player I am proud of the team's reaction, but if we had done our duty from the start it would have been a much less complicated match and we would have enjoyed it more,” he said. He also praised the players who came off the bench, underlining their decisive contribution in turning the situation around.
The midfielder dedicated a thought to Endrick, the young Brazilian who scored one of the goals that relaunched the European champions. “I really liked what the coach said a few days ago, when he explained that he needed the whole squad and complimented those who work in the shadows,” said Valverde. He added that the match shows that even those who play less train with great intensity and are ready to make their contribution when called upon.
With the victory, Real Madrid moves further closer to the top of the Spanish table, while Roma remains in a difficult position. The comeback against Los Blancos was a sign of the team's resilience and ability to adapt, elements that the coach could continue to exploit in the next matches. The Spanish club, after this performance, will be able to look forward to the next matches with confidence, trying to consolidate their position and make the most of the talent of the players on the bench.
