The Blaugrana club has confirmed that young Dutch winger Shane Kluivert will be out of action for two months after suffering an injury to the femoral biceps in his left leg. According to Barça's medical statement, the 19-year-old player will not be able to return to the playing fields until the end of 2027, which is a significant blow for the future of the reserve team.
Kluivert, son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert, had already lost last Tuesday's UEFA Youth League match, when Pol Planas' Juvenil A drew 1-1 against PSG in Paris. Before the injury, the forward had contributed 26 minutes of play in Barça Atlètic's victory over Utebo in the Second RFEF, where he had also scored and assisted. In total, the season has seen Kluivert participate in six games for the reserve team, with two starts, two goals and one assist.
Due to the injury, the player will not be able to play the next match against Olot, scheduled for Sunday at 5:30 p.m., nor the following matches against Arnedo, Manresa, Girona B, Espanyol B, Terrassa, Ebro, Reus Reddis and Calamocha. The club has made it clear that Kluivert's recovery will be a gradual process and that his return will depend on the evolution of the injury.
Before the injury, Kluivert had had the opportunity to train with HansiFlick's first team during the preseason, participating in 45 minutes against Birmingham City in a 1-1 match and in nine minutes against Udinese in an Italian triangular match. His departure from the Barça Atlètic squad leaves a void that the club will have to fill in the next matches of the Second RFEF.
