The president of LaLiga EASports, JavierTebas, responded to criticism from the president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), JoséManuelRodríguezUribes, who demanded an apology after Tebas' comparison between the content of RealMadridTV and Goebbels' Nazi propaganda. In his statement, Tebas denied the intention to offend and explained that his reference was limited to propaganda technique, not ideology, and added that institutional responsibility requires rigor, impartiality and coherence in any criticism.
Uribes had asked Tebas to retract his use of the phrase “methodology used in Nazi Germany” when describing the club's outreach strategy. Instead of apologizing, Tebas published a message in which he cited other politicians who had made similar comparisons without receiving reproaches. Among the examples he presented are the minister ÓscarPuente, who in two publications on Telemadrid and a message from JorgeBuxadé, and the socialist spokesperson PatxiLópez, who in interviews and public statements also made reference to Goebbels. Tebas stated that these cases had not been questioned and that, therefore, the comparison was neither unique nor offensive.
The statement also stressed that Uribes' criticism focused on the institutional responsibility of the president of LaLiga, and that this responsibility must apply to both football leaders and public officials. Tebas explained that his comment referred to the form of propaganda and not to Nazi ideology, clearly differentiating the intention of the criticism from the perception of the RealMadrid fans.
The message concludes with a call for consistency in the analysis of officials' words, regardless of who issues or receives them. Tebas emphasized that the CSD presidency must be based on consistent criteria and that the comparison with Nazi propaganda must be evaluated in its historical context and not as a direct accusation of the club's fans.
As for next steps, no additional measures have been announced by the CSD, and Tebas maintains its position without offering a formal apology. The situation remains on the radar of the sports press, while the soccer community observes how tensions between the sports institution and the administration of Spanish soccer are handled.
