Aymeric Laporte has reappeared on Athletic's radar after a brief illness that prevented him from participating in the Vallecas squad. In the third training session of the week, the French center back ran continuously and touched the ball, showing that he is recovered and ready for the next match against Valencia, scheduled for the ninth matchday of the League. Laporte arrived on the field later than his teammates and trained alongside Xabi Clemente, who was in the physical rehabilitation phase. Coach Luis de la Fuente, who had kept Laporte out last Friday, confirmed that the player has resumed his usual routine.
Laporte has been one of the players most used by Edin Terzic at the start of the season. With six complete games to his name, he has only failed to appear in the match against Croatia, where the Spanish national team met the 270-minute limit. Furthermore, the Agen midfielder was part of the first three matches of the Nations League 2026, playing in the matches against England, Czech Republic and Croatia. His presence in Athletic's first team has been constant, with five of the six games played as a starter.
Meanwhile, Nico Williams remains under observation after a moderate muscle injury to the left rectus femoris, which occurred during the first match against Croatia. His availability for the next match against Levante, which will be held on Wednesday at the Ciutat de València, or for Getafe's visit to San Mamés on Sunday, October 25, has not yet been confirmed. Oihan Sancet also faces a muscle ailment, this time in the soleus of his left leg, which requires caution on the part of the coaching staff.
The young winger Christian Imga continues in the dynamics of the first team. At 17 years old, he has already participated in training with the main squad on Tuesday, October 6, and was part of the call to visit Rayo. On Sunday he played in full in the match between Bilbao Athletic and Real Unión, which indicates that he is one of the players who will probably travel to Valencia in the first competition match after the long league break. The appointment with Vallecas, which had been postponed, still does not have a defined date.
