MauroMilanese, former footballer and manager, spoke on TMW radio during the "Maracanà" broadcast, focusing on Italy's recent performances in the Champions League and the difficulties that Napoli are facing in the Copa del Rey.
In his speech, Milanese expressed concern about the tendency of Italian teams to concede goals in unfavorable game situations. "It's bad when you concede three goals from a corner, as happened to Roma. I wouldn't want this problem to erase the performance against Real Madrid," he said, recalling how three single kicks changed the fate of a match. He also underlined that, although Italian teams have scored many goals, the defensive phase must be more solid, even when playing at home, since a goal "always gives away" and at such high levels you pay the price.
As for Napoli, Milanese highlighted the internal tensions that developed after the defeat against Villarreal. “You have all week to understand what a coach wants,” he observed, referring to the difficulty of aligning the expectations of all the players. He then commented on the relationship between coach GennaroAllegri and Belgian midfielder KevinDeBruyne, stating that, although DeBruyne has shown great tactical intelligence during his experience with the Belgian national team, "there is not much chemistry with Allegri".
Milanese reiterated that, regardless of the personal relationship, the player must follow the coach's instructions. "The coach doesn't tell you what to do every time; it's essential to have the same ideas with and without the ball," he added, underlining the importance of discipline and tactical coherence within the team.
Milanese's comment comes at a time when Napoli are under pressure, both due to the loss against Villarreal and team issues that could affect future performances. The club, in fact, will have to face the next matches with the need to consolidate the defense and improve communication between coach and players. With the season still ongoing, Allegri's management and DeBruyne's ability to adapt to the coach's directives will be crucial in determining Napoli's fate in the Copa del Rey and Serie A.
