Sebastiano Esposito, the Campania striker who moved to Sassuolo in the summer after a season in Cagliari, has already proven to be a strong point in Alberto Aquilani's team. In his first six matches with the Neroverdi, the coach saw in him a player who quickly understood the tactical dynamics of the Roman club, scoring two goals and earning a prominent place in the starting lineup. Despite the results, the attacker recognizes that there is still much to improve in his ability to score, but he is convinced that he can contribute significantly to the growth of the team.
During the interview published on TUTTOmercatoWEB, Esposito explained why he chose Sassuolo, a club that has always fascinated him. "I have always liked Sassuolo; I believe that this is the ideal place to grow and establish myself, as well as giving me the opportunity to win a place in the national team," he declared. He underlined that the strength of the team and the potential offered by Palmieri and Aquilani's project immediately convinced him to join them. “I'm in the place I wanted to be,” he added, highlighting his confidence in the path the club has set out.
The player also spoke about his bond with his brothers Pio and Salvatore, both professional footballers. "We also have an older sister and we all have an inexplicable bond; we don't see each other much for work but when we do, there's a big celebration in our house," he said. The expression of the number 94, which honors their area of origin, is a symbol of belonging and childhood memories spent on the pitches of home. "When we come home in the summer, we play on the pitches under the house and we create competition between us; they are wonderful memories," he added.
Sassuolo, who is preparing to meet Fiorentina at 6.30pm today, continues to focus on young talents and a sustainable growth project. With Esposito among their attackers, the team aims to consolidate their position in Serie A and showcase the potential they have shown so far. The newcomer's performance will certainly be in the spotlight in the coming matches, as the club approaches an ambitious season, aiming to achieve results on both the domestic and international stage.
