Tottenham Hotspur have announced a short‑term training trip to Marbella, Spain, after their recent Premier League match at Old Trafford. The move comes as the club looks to revive a sluggish start to the season, with the Gunners sitting at the bottom of the table following a winless run of five games that included two draws.
The decision was made by new manager Roberto de Zerbi, who took charge of the club in late March. De Zerbi said the team needed a change of environment to spark a turnaround and to give the new-look squad a chance to bond away from the pressures of the English capital. “We want to give the players a chance to reset, to focus on the next fixtures and to build chemistry,” he explained, emphasising that the trip would be a brief break before the club’s next home fixture against newly promoted Coventry.
The Gunners will depart for Marbella on Sunday, arriving in the Andalusian city where temperatures are expected to reach 25 °C. In contrast, the training base in Enfield is forecast to see rain, making the sunny Spanish climate an attractive option for the squad. The camp will last a few days, after which the team will return to England in time for their Monday match at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s summer transfer activity has been extensive, with the club spending more than £250 million to add ten new players. The most recent arrivals – Savio, Tosin Adarabioyo, Mykhailo Mudryk and Omar Marmoush – joined in the final week of the transfer window, leaving the squad little time to integrate before the congested fixture list and the extended international break. De Zerbi hopes that the Marbella stay will help the players gel and improve performance in the upcoming matches.
With the club’s form at a low point, the training camp is seen as a strategic move to lift morale and performance. Tottenham will return to England in time for their home game against Coventry, where they will aim to secure a positive result and begin a climb out of the relegation zone.
