Antonio Cassano expressed his doubts about Massimiliano Allegri's Napoli, despite the convincing 3-0 victory over Frosinone. The former striker, interviewed on Viva el Futbol, first underlined the value of the blue squad, defining it "the strongest in the championship after Inter", but then highlighted doubts about the coach's proposal.
Cassano said that although Napoli have a top-class squad, Allegri's philosophy does not seem capable of guaranteeing a top-four position. “Allegri is a 60-year-old coach, I'm not saying he's old but he's already been playing like this for 15 years and I don't think he'll change at his age,” he said, adding that “I struggle to see the Azzurri in the top four”. Criticism focuses on the fact that, in his opinion, Allegri's tactical structure and mentality are not enough to compete with the top teams.
When assessing the league prospects, Cassano pointed to Inter, Milan and Juventus as the teams with the best chance of finishing top, with a particular warning to Como. “I see Inter, Milan and Juve, then pay attention to Como,” he declared. The former player also expressed skepticism towards Roma, claiming that the team is unable to maintain offensive coherence. “Malen must always score because Dybala scored 3 goals in a year,” he observed, highlighting the dependence on a single player.
Despite the positive evaluation of the squad, Cassano perceived a contradiction between the quality of Napoli and the expected difficulties in the race for the top positions. His analysis suggests that, although the club has the technical tools, Allegri's lack of an innovative approach could hinder the achievement of ambitious goals.
With Serie A still underway, Napoli will have to prove they can turn their high-level squad into concrete results. Cassano's observations, although critical, highlight the pressure on the Neapolitan club to compete with the most prestigious teams and to consolidate its position in the league table. Napoli's next step will be to translate the quality of the group into constant victories, in order to challenge the top positions of the championship.
